There are some consequences of time travel, one of which I listed below:
- The person may lose connections with the universe he/she comes from, because by altering the timeline, the future THE PERSON came from will not magically change, therefore, he/she will have to go to an alternate universe that was created once he/she inevitably alters the timeline. I know that this theory already exists, but it works as a consequence.
Also, you should understand the space-time relationship. May people have heard of a 4-dimensional entity known as "Space-Time", which is part of Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity. All what it is, is that time, in physics, in 1 dimensional, and Space is 3 dimensional. So Space-Time is 4 dimensional. So every event in history, every place or action can be described in the terms of where they are placed on Space-Time.
Time Travel is already happening, kind of. In comparison between how fast ticked in space compared to here on Earth, it has been proven that time ticks slower in space than it does on Earth. Just earlier, they sent one twin to live on the ISS and the other stayed in Earth, testing a theory that if one twin goes to space, it would come back appearing younger than the other twin. One could argue that Time Dilation is a form of time travel but I think that such a statement almost crosses the border.
There is also how we perceive time. We have all felt time "fly" as we are enjoying ourselves, and time slow down as we anticipate something or we are waiting for something. For example, one would feel time almost stop as he/she wait for their friend to come over, but once they arrive, time speeds up and hours feel like minutes. No, as we wait for a friend do we approach the speed of light but rather, we just perceive that the time is slowing down because we want it to become faster, but it isn't. So in our minds, time is moving faster than it is in real life, making it feel that time is slowing down. And when we perceive that time is moving faster, its because we want it to slow down, and we want it to last longer that it ultimately is. We think that time is moving at a different pace than we hope, causing and acceleration or deceleration in time, and our human brain thinks of time slower than it is happening. Our perception of time may also be a form of our personal time travel, we are traveling though the time altering the speeds in our minds.
Finally, I want to end my final blog post, I want to ask a question: Do you believe time travel is possible, and do you believe it should exist? Thanks for reading, and until next time.
P.S. Expect posts on Tuesdays and / or Wednesdays for the next couple of weeks, because of The Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D finale, and the season finale of Arrow!
