Society is amazingly awful (yup, I said it). It is generally biased and discriminating, not only to certain cultures, but to ideals and even words. In society, it is as if everyone has a place, or a destiny, and if one were to alter their own place, such as going to college even though their family hasn't received education beyond High School, their place has suddenly shifted upwards. Society is like a scale, where the white collar jobs are at the top and blue collar jobs are at the bottom. Such as in Flatland, a book by Clergyman Edwin Abbot, the people of the lower class are polygons with less sides, and as the classes increase, the number of sides increase until one's family reaches a status of upper class, where they have so many sides that they are almost a circle.
Society is very shunning of those that are even slightly different. Around March, during a school fire drill, I heard someone say "Stupid Asian"(Actually he said something in which I will not say on this blog). He said this because he was accidentally pushed slightly across the shoulder. Why would one say such a thing though? Do they enjoy feeling superiority in a way that they can bully other children so that they can keep their throne? I frustrates me as a person to think about the way society is slowly crumbling because of our actions. A main thing talked about during 7th Grade History was the Dust Bowl. We read how social the people were even though they could barely afford a living. They offered their school houses and homes for strangers that were caught in a dust storm. Why is it today that we don't do this? We have alarms implanted in our house, and only offer hospitality to the people that we know. Ultron acknowledged something in Age of Ultron and in the Avengers Comics. It isn't just terrorists or super villains ruining society,it is everybody. The only way that society will evolve, or improve, is an extinction level event on humanity, ending all life on Earth. Was he really wrong? (Yes, I realize how many rhetorical questions I have here but just think about them)
Also, swear words. (And I will not actually swear in this post by the way, so don't anticipate any "juicy words") These are just words yet we have to give a crude meaning to them. If one of the certain words meant "surprised", people would say it more often. Because we have made these words represent bad or crude things, even though the words would be meaningless without us, they are known in disgust. What is the point? Why do we need swear words in the first place?
Its not just about society in this double packed blog post cause now I'll talk about Artificial Intelligence, YA.I. or NA.I.?
I just want to apologize for that pun up there, sorry.
In my opinion, Pop Culture has completely butchered any good that A.I. can do for the general public. With movies such as Ex Machina and Chappie, Hollywood has created an opinion that A.I is a horrible concept to begin with, but I disagree. It really depends on what you program the intelligence to do. Yes, if you program it to do something in which it has power to do bad stuff by becoming self aware it will do that, but if you program it to do simple tasks or good things that make life easier for the hard working citizen A.I seems like a helpful concept. You could program a machine to plant trees into parks, or clean up homes, or even schedule appointments for you, and you're life would become easier. The machines would not feel a need to uprise against their creators, and the world would become a lot easier to manage.
But, AI can be viewed poorly even if they are programmed to be helpful. If robots take the place for these positions then many jobs would be gone, and many people would be fired, which would significantly raise the unemployment rate. Also, robots can fail, and there software can be bad, so having a robot doesn't always guarantee a 100% success rate.
Thats all I have to say for now! Tune in next time when hopefully it isnt 2 or 3 months for now!
